The charm of Tokyo’s revitalized Shibuya and “MIYASHITA PARK”

In the heart of Tokyo, Shibuya, once a youth-centric area, has transformed into a sophisticated urban district. It now features commercial facilities like Shibuya Hikarie, Shibuya Stream, Shibuya Bridge, and Shibuya Scramble Square, which have reinvented Shibuya into a globally appealing destination. Among these, the standout spot is “MIYASHITA PARK.”

“MIYASHITA PARK” – A new urban space

Exiting Hachiko Gate at Shibuya Station and crossing the bustling scramble intersection, you encounter MIYASHITA PARK, a green oasis blending urban design with nature. From Meiji Street, the park’s unique four-story structure—comprising a park, commercial facilities, and a hotel under a canopy of greenery—is fully visible. First opened in 1953 and refurbished after the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the park now sits 17 meters above the ground. It offers extensive rooftop green spaces, sports facilities, and a cozy café lounge, promising a refreshing urban retreat.

Activities

MIYASHITA PARK is known for its urban activities, particularly its skateboard and bouldering facilities. The skateboard area is always bustling with youths honing their skills, while the bouldering wall caters to climbers of all levels. The park’s vast green spaces serve as an urban oasis, offering visitors a chance to refresh and relax. These facilities provide an ideal setting for active recreation, allowing visitors to enjoy nature in the heart of Shibuya.

Shopping and dining

MIYASHITA PARK houses a diverse array of eateries and retail stores. With about 90 shops ranging from Japan’s first outlets to local stores, the park offers a variety of dining options—from restaurants and cafes to fast food and stylish bars. The shopping experience is equally varied, featuring the latest fashion items and unique gifts, making it a recommended spot for shopping enthusiasts.

This hotel provides a refined lodging experience, ensuring a quiet and comfortable stay in the heart of Shibuya.

The gourmet street “Shibuya Yokocho”

“Shibuya Yokocho,” located within MIYASHITA PARK, is a 100-meter-long gourmet street bustling with various eateries. This area offers a wide range of dining options, from traditional izakayas to modern cafes and international cuisine restaurants, making it a popular spot to experience Shibuya’s diverse food culture. The vibrant atmosphere and new flavors make it an ideal place for dining and socializing in Shibuya.
